CPU generation

AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000 / V1000 mini PCs

These embedded Zen chips show up in used thin clients; HP's t740, for example, uses the four-core, eight-thread Ryzen Embedded V1756B and has a low-profile PCIe slot. The V1000 series launched in February 2018 and the R1000 series in April 2019. Under Linux they have enough CPU for routing, DNS, Home Assistant or a small container host. Limits: Windows 11 is not supported, the R1000 chips have only two cores, and storage and expansion depend heavily on the thin-client chassis. Check the exact board for M.2 slot type and RAM slots before planning upgrades.

In mini PCs
Zen + Vega APUs: R1505G/R1606G 2 cores/4 threads at 12 to 25 W; V1605B 4c/8t at 12 to 25 W; V1756B/V1807B 4c/8t at 35 to 54 W; DDR4.
Windows 11
Not on Microsoft's supported list. Microsoft's AMD list includes Ryzen Embedded V2000 and R2000 chips but not the R1000 (R1505G, R1606G) or V1000 (V1605B, V1756B) series common in thin clients.
Media engine
First-generation Zen APU media engine (Raven-class): AMD lists H.265 encode and decode; per Wikipedia's VCN table, Raven/Picasso VCN 1.0 also decodes VP9 and 10-bit HEVC. No AV1.
Frigate OpenVINO
No (not an Intel iGPU, or too old)
Memory
