Intel 4th Gen (Haswell) mini PCs

Haswell is the oldest generation still common in used 1-liter business PCs. A T-series Core i5 or i7 can still run a lightweight Linux server, a DNS filter or a small Home Assistant install, but the limits are real. Microsoft supports no Haswell chip for Windows 11. The Quick Sync block handles H.264 but has no hardware HEVC, so it is a poor Plex or Jellyfin transcoder for modern files. Frigate's OpenVINO detector requires 6th gen or newer. Memory is DDR3/DDR3L, which won't carry over to a newer machine. Buy one only when the job is light and none of those limits matter to you.
