HP t640 Thin Client
The HP t640 is a fanless thin client with a dual-core, four-thread AMD Ryzen Embedded R1505G and Radeon Vega 3 graphics, which HP runs at a 12 W setting. It isn't related to the EliteDesk Mini chassis. Both RAM slots are standard DDR4 SO-DIMMs (32 GB max), and the single M.2 slot accepts SATA or NVMe SSDs up to 2280. Units usually come with HP ThinPro or Windows 10 IoT and a small flash drive, so plan on a new SSD and OS. Being silent and low-power, it makes a good router or firewall box (with a USB or Wi-Fi-slot NIC), Home Assistant host or Pi-hole. Two cores is the main limit: it isn't a Plex transcoding or multi-VM machine.

Check before you buy
- Check the storage size in the listing, because many t640s ship with small 16-64 GB flash modules meant for ThinPro.
- Make sure the 45 W HP adapter is included; it uses a 4.5 mm barrel with a centre pin.
- Confirm no BIOS password is set. Parkytowers documents a PSWD jumper near the battery for clearing it.
- Expect HP ThinPro or Windows 10 IoT rather than a full desktop OS, and plan to reinstall.
