CPU generation

Intel 13th Gen (Raptor Lake) mini PCs

Raptor Lake refines Alder Lake with higher clocks and more efficiency cores on some models, and it keeps the same Gen 12 media engine: AV1 decode, no AV1 encode. Desktop chips launched in October 2022 and mobile chips in January 2023. Laptop-class 13th-gen chips power Intel's NUC 13 Pro, the last NUC Pro designed by Intel before ASUS took over the line, plus many consumer mini PCs. Boards may use DDR4, DDR5 or soldered LPDDR5/5X, so check the memory type and slot count of the exact model. Windows 11 is supported, and it is a strong choice for Proxmox hosts that need many threads.

Released: 2022
In mini PCs: Hybrid design; mobile chips range from 10 cores/12 threads (Core i5-1335U) to 14 cores/20 threads (Core i7-13700H); desktop T-series at 35 W.
Windows 11: On Microsoft's supported list. 13th-gen Core i3/i5/i7/i9 are on Microsoft's Windows 11 supported lists.
Media engine: Quick Sync: HEVC 10-bit, VP9, AV1 decode
Frigate OpenVINO: Supported on the Intel iGPU
Memory: DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR5, LPDDR5X
