GMKtec NucBox G5 (Intel N97)
The NucBox G5 is one of GMKtec's smallest PCs at about 72 x 72 x 44.5 mm. It uses the Intel N97, a 4-core Alder Lake-N chip that boosts to 3.6 GHz and is a little faster than the N100. Memory is 12 GB of LPDDR5 soldered to the board, so it cannot be upgraded. Storage is a single M.2 SATA SSD, not NVMe. It has one 2.5 GbE port and two 4K HDMI outputs. It is a good fit for a very small Home Assistant box, a kiosk, a media player or light office use. The fixed 12 GB of RAM and SATA-only storage make it a weaker choice for Proxmox or heavier multitasking than slot-based N100 boxes such as the G3. Don't confuse it with the G5S, which uses an older Celeron N5095.

Check before you buy
- RAM is a fixed 12 GB of soldered LPDDR5; buy it only if 12 GB is enough for your use.
- The SSD slot takes M.2 SATA drives; check the drive type before buying a replacement.
- Confirm it is the G5 (N97) and not the G5S, which uses an older Celeron N5095 and different memory.
- Check whether the unit has Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6; listings for this model show both.
General off-lease checks (BIOS passwords, Computrace, missing drive caddies) are in the used mini PC buying checklist.
